"you do not have many fathers," 1 Corinthians 4:15
Have you ever been going though life minding you own business and you read or see something that shakes you up a bit? I had that happen to me a couple days ago when I was searching Google for some articles on being a good father. I ran across this little checklist from allprodad.com. It really made me take a hard look at what I do with most important commodity that I have as a father; the commodity of time. As much as society seems to try to convince me that the concept of giving my children a better life than I had is really tied to money and possessions, what our children need more than anything is my time and my affection.
As I read through the checklist on being a good dad, I realized that almost all of them were directly tied how I choose to spend my time. Over this Fathers Day weekend, the best present I could have received from God was this article. I have placed the list and link below from allprodad.com. Dads check this out and ask yourself how well you do the 12 things the author has listed in this article.
How Do You Know You're
Being a Good Father?
By: Family First.net
You are a good dad when:
When you help your kids with their schoolwork
When you take an interest in their hobbies
When you show affection to your wife in front of them
When you advocate that they speak to you and each other respectfully
When you just enjoy being with your children and them with you
When your son or daughter comes running to you when they get hurt
When your calendar is full of things to do with your children
When you calmly and gently discipline your children without yelling or screaming
When you tuck your children into bed at night and tell them "I love you" and pray with them
When you drive your kids to school in the morning
When you make Saturday morning breakfast for them
When you give your children responsibilities and chores
